After APACHA’s ground works in different countries like Pakistan, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, etc with the help of its Country chapters, we have now realized the need to transform our structures, and governance mechanism. To initiate this process we are planning to hold an Asia Regional Meeting which is expected to develop a new governance team, and to develop a framework of APACHA Asia Strategy on the 21-23rd October 2008 in Bangkok.
Purpose of the meeting
- To share APACHA Country updates
- To share APACHA International Secretariat Updates
- To discuss on the APACHA International Governance Structure
- To come up with a new governing board of APACHA
- To make APACHA governance more inclusive
- To discuss on the APACHA Asia Strategy
- To come up with APACHA Asia Strategy
- To discuss APACHA membership issues
- To generate common ownership of APACHA
Expected Outcomes
- A new APACHA Governing Body will be formed which is the foundation of any network.
- A new APACHA Asia Strategy will be developed which will guide the future APACHA initiatives in Asia.
- It will provide opportunity to members to better understand APACHA, know each other and their country initiatives.
- It will enhance the team spirit and increase the shared sense of responsibility and ownership.
The meeting will be inclusive of members representing the APACHA Country Chapters from ten different countries such as India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Some new actors such as CARE, CONCERN, and LWF have also expressed their wiliness to be the part of Core Support Group; they will also be participating in the meeting.
Overall, this meeting will be crucial for APACHA to transform its governance and strategy. This Asia Regional Meeting is an opportunity for APACHA to be more inclusive, grounded and it will help APACHA strengthen a shared sense of ownership.
